Jitse
Front-end Developer
Full name: Jitse Dekeyser / Home office: Leuven / At Wieni since 2026 / Wieni ID #70
What do you do at Wieni?
I’m a front-end developer, mainly focused on translating the design into the actual website. That can go from setting up a project to refining the smallest details. I work on different parts of a project, like adjusting sections, fixing bugs, and making sure everything feels right in the end.
What I enjoy most is working on animations and those small details that really make a difference. Turning a design into something interactive and polished is probably my favorite part. The variety in tasks is also very important to me. Switching between things keeps it interesting.
It’s the small dots on the i and subtle animations that really bring a website to life.
What did you do before Wieni?
I just graduated, so I’m still at the start of my career. I did an internship at Antenna in Ghent, where I had a similar role, working on small improvements across different projects. After that, I worked at Edu-Tech on a platform for schools, mainly focused on administration and support.
It was a good experience, but I missed the creative aspect and the variation in projects. That’s what made me start looking for something else.
Why Wieni?
I was looking for something similar to my internship, with more variety and more creative work. The values on the Wieni website really spoke to me, and I wanted to work on projects I could be proud of.
As a junior, it was also important for me to find a place where I could keep learning. There’s still a lot I don’t know yet, and I wanted an environment where there’s space to grow and make mistakes.
What makes Wieni stand out to me is the way of working. It’s quite asynchronous and independent. Tasks are clearly defined, you have ownership over your work, but there’s always support when you need it.
I was looking for a place where I could keep learning and have the freedom to grow, Wieni really gives you that space.
What kind of work excites you the most?
Anything where I can combine design and development. I like working on the visual side of things, especially when I can add animations or subtle interactions. That’s where I can really experiment a bit and improve the overall experience.
Who is Jitse outside of Wieni?
I’m someone who likes to try new things and keep learning. The past few years, I’ve been learning some new languages. I've finished the whole Swedish course on Duolingo. I actually started with it in school, and kept learning after my studies. My grandmother also learned Swedish, which made it more interesting to pick up again.
Now I’m maintaining it through music, series, and films. Recently, I started learning Spanish, mainly because my boyfriend lives in Mexico.
I also like watching random “did you know” videos during lunch. Just short videos with random facts. And I recently started a small sewing project, which is something I had never done before. It was more like, why not try it.
What is something you want to learn in the next 12 months?
I’d like to explore AI and agentic workflows within a front-end context. It’s something I’m not really working with yet, but I think it’s going to be very relevant, so I want to experiment with it and see how I can use it in practice.
