Full name: Lander Piessens / Home office: Antwerp / At Wieni since 2025

I am a Headless Front-end Developer. In simple terms, my job is to build the front-end of a website in a way that it can talk to different external systems. In a headless setup, the website no longer relies on one single CMS that controls everything. Instead, the front end pulls in content and data from several separate sources: a headless CMS like DatoCMS, APIs from external partners, dynamic services, or other integrations.
Because all these systems are loosely connected rather than glued together, we can build a custom front-end that loads exactly what we need, when we need it.
Right now, I am working on the PIA project and helping to kick-off a few upcoming projects.
I have always known I wanted to be in the web development sector; I even gave a presentation about it back in the 5th grade. After high school, I started a Bachelor in MCT but found it too theoretical, so I switched to a more practical graduate degree in front-end development.
My first real taste of the industry was an internship at Digital With You, where I worked on the Tomorrowland account, more specifically for ticket sales and editors in the CMS. After that, I worked at an agency, but I was looking for a place that prioritized newer technology. That search led me to Wieni, where I knew the focus was on "super next-gen" tech and tools.
The main draw for me here is the asynchronous way of working. The freedom to organize your day within reasonable limits is really great. I enjoy working on products that have high complexity and many modules: the real brain teasers. While the work is fun, I also think it's important that you actually enjoy working with the tools you use every day.
I have a huge passion for coffee, which seems to be a common trait at Wieni. I love visiting local coffee bars such as Caffenation in Antwerp, but I also enjoy making special coffees at home and trying to guess the tasting notes. Recently I was in Paris where I found a small coffee shop that served the best coffee I ever had. I would go back to Paris just for another cup. ☕
Aside from caffeine, I enjoy going to concerts and festivals, particularly harder raves like Rave Rebels in Brussels
