Sara

Project Manager

Full name: Sara Rosseels / Home office: Gelrode / At Wieni since 2024

What do you do at Wieni?

I’m a project manager. I make sure our clients feel supported, helped and take the stress off the clients’ shoulders.

Every day looks a bit different, but typically I start by checking the Github board to see all of the open tickets across our projects. I make sure everything is assigned to the right person and check if anything can already be sent to the client. I also ensure our team knows what to work on and which priorities to focus on. On top of that, I follow up on emails, Slack messages, and sometimes dive deeper into the content of a project. We have recurring weekly meetings to stay aligned as well.

“What I enjoy most are the meetings with clients, especially when we get to dig deep into projects. For one of them, we even created a full roadmap for 2025. It’s exciting to have that bigger-picture view.”

What did you do before Wieni?

After graduating, I started as an event manager. Because of COVID, most of those events were online. I worked at a SaaS platform that hosted online events, kind of like speed dating for companies. I also did a bit of sales there.

After that, I became a project owner at Domino’s Pizza in Antwerp, where I got to help decide on visuals and toppings. The fun part? We got to taste-test everything beforehand!

Later, I moved to NMG, a marketing agency, where I worked as a project manager for a wide range of clients. The projects were super diverse from websites to brochures to flyers and I managed them all from start to finish.

Why did you choose Wieni?

I saw the job post on LinkedIn and applied right away. I’ve always had a thing for websites, and Wieni seemed like a company with a no-nonsense culture, which I love. They work with big, diverse clients, and I was also really drawn to the flexibility: working from home, asynchronous communication, and the use of tools like Slack and GitHub.

“The tools we use actually bring you closer to the client. It doesn’t feel like we’re just a service provider, it feels like we’re part of their team.”

I usually work from home, but I try to go to the office once or twice a week. When I’m at home, I love taking my break with a walk and a good podcast.

Who is Sara outside of Wieni?

I’m 28 and I live in Aarschot with my fiancé and our cat, Lexi. I love working out and currently I’m on a personal challenge to exercise every single day, and so far, I’ve stuck to it!

I have a bit of a musical streak as well. I like going out with friends to Den Druppel, our favorite local café in Aarschot. I also enjoy quiet nights in, playing board games with friends. We have a little tradition where we visit each other's homes a few times a month to play. Some of my favorites are Sleeping Gods, Everdell and Nemesis.

Travel is also a big passion of mine. I especially love trips that are far away and where I can dive or ski. Those are two activities I try to include in every trip abroad.

My top three favorite places I’ve visited are:

  1. The Philippines, which is a beautiful country with amazing diving spots
  2. The Dominican Republic, where I learned to dive.
  3. Thailand, where I got engaged! (Though I’ll admit, it’s a bit touristy.)

Next on my bucket list: Cambodia, Taiwan, Australia, Vietnam, Peru, Japan, and pretty much all of America.

Do you have a unique skill?

Yes! I can move my ears without touching them. Also, I can rap Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore, word for word.
